The idea was to build a new home for stories, where questions could be raised, and thoughts could be shared. Penpenny is setting up its benchmark. It’s a place where innovative ideas, creative thoughts, and Q&A sessions will connect people with different topics.
The purpose was to write small blurbs of texts, images, or big stories and posts! Penpenny makes sharing simpler and quicker, allowing users to frequently post brief thoughts.
Our biggest challenge was that to cover all the intricate details at Penpenny more than it can be covered in one go. The content at Penpenny and marketing teams segmented the details in a way that was inclusive for all verticals.
The features such as sharing posts, stories, and questions over the same platform make it huge. It had to be specific enough to cover these particular elements, settling on a broad overview of the platform with more feature-rich descriptions. We had to make sure every single factor was given equal attention and kept simple for the user’s use.
Let’s get into the details
Technology Used By Our Team
We developed a mix of technology and creativity. Blending in the new concepts of technology Penpenny was build using Angular7, NodeJS, MongoDB, Python, Tensorflow, and various AWS Services. We chose AWS as our deployment flatform and used multiple services provided by them such as S3 for storage, Pinpoint for emails and push notifications, EC2 for hosting APIs, API gateways, and many more. We used Jira for bug tracking, sprint management, and Confluence for documentation of the entire application. Health monitoring and usage alerts of services were managed using CloudWatch.
Logic behind everything
A logo should cover all aspects of the product. We wanted to reflect the meaning of our name in the symbol we designed. After many changes, we finally created our logo that grips the sole meaning and purpose of Penpenny. Penpenny is a place where you can earn for your writeups. We created a logo that covers a penny and the initial letter ‘P’ of our product name. The ‘P’ ends with the nib of the pen/pencil. We discovered and designed our logo through research and creativity. We developed our imagination and delivered the end product as we visualized it to be.

Color and Font Selection
The colors used for Penpenny are red and orange. As their name suggests, red-orange is a cross between the two hues. Extra red than orange symbolizes the bright and exciting physical energy. It is known to be playful, energetic, and engaging, just like we want our platform to be. Energetic and engaging! Red-orange also symbolizes health and vitality. It is optimistic and uplifting – it lifts our spirits. The qualities of orange are optimistic and uplifting, which we all should implement in our daily lives.
We used PT Sans font for this project. PT Sans is based on Russian Sans Serif types of the second part of the 20th century, but at the same time has distinctive features of contemporary humanistic designs. It gave the content a simple and sophisticated look! It’s tailored to the design where the twin forces of richness and clarity coexist.
